Windows and Lace

Nothing goes together like windows and lace.  Especially in a Victorian House.  This is my dream house and thought, even though I have an immense amount of work to do on the outside, I just had to spend a little time in my dining room.  Since I blew the budget on getting this house built, there is just a little each month that I allow myself to spend on decorating the house.  This month I bought some lace curtains and rods to spruce up one of my favorite rooms, the dining room.

Remember this is the room that we took the chandelier out of the dining room in our other house because I could find one that I liked better.  So there it is.

Since I am working with a budget I decided that I would add some festive fall flowers to the windows.  The thing I like about this is that I can change them out with the seasons.  I chose sunflowers for an introduction to fall.  Then when December comes I will probably change it out to poinsettias.  Whatever I fancy whenever I fancy as the dining room is an ever changing pallet.

I was so excited when I got home today with the rods and the flowers that I couldn’t wait to wash the windows so I could put up the curtains I ordered from Touch of Class.  They have the most beautiful stuff, that I had a hard time deciding on something, then they had a sale!!  You should check out their site.

This house has a total of 44 windows.  When we decided on the house, I chose it because of all the windows and light.  I can’t make myself cover them with dark drapes, especially the dining room.  My hope is that as winter rolls in and the days get shorter, the light coming through the windows, will help in getting rid of the winter doldrums.

I even managed to unpack a few boxes.  Still bunches to go and more windows to wash.  More blinds to put up.  It’s all coming together.  🙂  That makes me a happy girl.

That’s all for today.  Working in the yard tomorrow morning, then back in the house when it gets too hot for outside.  And some much needed time for bonding with my two granddaughters.
